Tickets
Timing is everything…especially when buying your airline tickets. When do you buy them?
The rule of thumb is to purchase your tickets between three months and 14 days prior to domestic travel. Why? Airlines don’t usually start releasing cheaper seats until three to four months before departure for domestic travel. For international travel, try four to five months out.
You may find last minute specials for off peak travel such as round trips from Thursday to Monday or Saturday to Tuesday. If you can be flexible, check out days on one side or the other of your original flight days. It may save some money.

Summer Plans
Do you think about your health insurance when planning for a trip? Do you carry a copy of your health insurance card with you? What about if you are planning a trip out of the US?
It would be a good idea to ask your current health care provider about your policy and if it covers you while traveling. Some companies do not cover for anything, even emergencies, while you are out of the US. But you may be able to purchase a short term policy that will cover you for emergencies. Some even include air transportation out of that country. If you are going to be gone for a lengthy time it might be a good thing to have.
Make a list of all medications, special needs, pre-existing conditions and other pertinent health information. Keep that list with your policy or insurance card.
Be prepared and know your options. It’s a smart way to travel.
